The Shoot

The weather could not have been better for the sixteen shooters who came to compete with their WW-II relics. Match categories featured weapons used in various battles of the war in Europe.

Almost all the matches had entries except for the Polish Campaign. There were three French MAS 36 rifles for the Blitzkrieg Campaign, several US M1917 Enfields for the North Africa Match along with a number of '03A3 Springfields, a couple of BARs, but only one M1 Garand.

The three matches that had the most entries: Sicily, Tommy Gun, & Grenadier.
Our Rosie the Riveter match was won by Audrey A. shooting a very respectable 87 with her '03A3 in the Sicily Match. The Grenadier Match involved launching a "grenade" (tennis ball) from an Enfield Rifle equipped with a "cup grenade launcher". The goal was to land your grenade closest to the 100 yard line without going past it. Orlando O. won the event. The other participants were not recorded.

Following the rifle matches, lunch was served in the club house. Lunch consisted of Sabret Hotdogs, Baked Beans, Sauerkraut, Chili, Cheeseburgers, Drakes cakes and pies and assorted sodas. Orlando O. provided the burgers,cooked by Pete Y. The balance of the lunch was prepared by Chef du jour, Tom P. who also verified the scores and named the winners.

Following lunch and the handing out of Rifle Trophies, the Handgun Matches commenced in the indoor range. On hand were a number of Barettas, Brownings, 1911A1, and small autos used by the OSS.

Overall it was a fun day for all.
