The ShootThe weather was absolutely gorgeous for our shoot which, as it turned out,was important since the firing line was uncovered for our event. (Had we held the event on Sunday, we would have been rained out.) Approximately 15 shooters participated in the event. We had use of the 100 yard outdoor range until 1:00. So we broke for lunch at 1:00 and then moved to the pistol events indoors. Shongum had a new member orientation meeting in the clubhouse in the morning. Stan, our Shoot Chairman invited all to join us, and a couple new shooters did join us on the pistol range in the afternoon. The Shooting Line was managed by Stan Gurski. Score keeper was Tom Plante, and our great cook Joe Lutz was available for his special Hot Dogs, Beans, and Chili, with all the fixin's.
The new targets were used again this year. The 5-ring targets were scored 1-5 & X. X's were used to break ties. The standard target was also used for the Sniper Rounds.
Of the 15 Events scheduled, only one was not entered-the .22 Trainer Match. Returning Champion, Matt B won three events - Waterloo with his Brown Bess, Flanders Field with his SMLE Mark IV and The Crimea with his Enfield .577. Perennial Winner and Sniper, Andy G won both the Sniper & Home Guard Matches. Andy shot a perfect 50 in Home Guard and clipped the X ring in the Sniper Match.
The Zulu Match was won by Russ P using his Martini Henry Rifle.
Paul M was the solo entrant Boer War Match (No Gun Specified)
and Stu R was the solo entrant in the Burma Match. The End of Empire Match was taken by Rich G with his FAL. Rich also went on to win: Empire Revolver (Webley MK IV .45) and UK Revolver (.38 S&W) The Commonweath Auto Trophy went to Steve S who shot a top score of 100/120 with his Colt 1911 .45 Auto. Steve also took top award in the Commando Match with his Semi-Auto .45 Tommy Gun
Two of our invited guests were first-time shooters Darlene and Veronica. The results follow: |
