This shoot was sponsored by Shongum and NJACC Members Rich Gajda and Stan Gurski.
The great lunch of Hot Dogs, Liberty Cabbage, Beans, and drinks, prepared by our Chef Chuck Collins, worked out perfectly for the shoot.
In Stan's absence, Rich Gajda, with Dave Johnson's help ran the event. Chuck, Russ P , Dave J , and three of the new participants
helped with scoring and trophy distribution.
The weather was great and the shooting conditions were excellent. Bob Weis delivered the target frames the night before.
We used two new targets from Speedwell - B-6 Center for rifle and B-29 for pistol events.
Site-in went well. We had fourteen shooters and entries in all matches but one (Burma). The rifle matches were completed by 12:30 when we broke for lunch
and awarded the rifle trophies. After lunch, we completed the two pistol matches. We had seven different winners across the eleven matches fired.
At his first NJACC match, junior shooter Vince A won both Young Samurai and Pacific Paratrooper. Russ P won the Emperor Trophy
(best score with a Japanese rifle) using his Japanese 38 with a score of 98 6X -- which was also the highest score of the Day! There were no Tokyo Rose entries.
Russ P also won Bataan, Okinawa, and Mandalay. Paul M dogged Russ all day, coming in close seconds to Russ in three events (one of which required
a fourth level tie-breaker on their almost identical 91 1X scores in Mandalay!). Paul did beat Russ to win Manchuria and also won
Khalkhin Gol. Jim Burnell (one of the three new NJACC shooters from NY, all of whom did well) won Guadacanal and almost caught Russ
in Bataan. Dave J won Pacific Sniper over Vince after we measured the distance of the hit from center X.
John S dominated in the inaugural Cabanatuan match.
Rich G took a break from running the event to participate in and win the two handgun events, barely beating out Jack S and Michael
U in Victory Over Japan.
