The Shoot
The weather was absolutely gorgeous for our shoot which, as it turned out,was important since the firing line was uncovered for our event.
(Had we held the event on Sunday, we would have been rained out.)
Approximately 15 shooters participated in the event. We had use of the 100 yard outdoor range until 1:00. So we broke for lunch at 1:00 and then moved to the pistol events indoors. Shongum had a new member orientation meeting in the clubhouse in the morning. Stan, our Shoot Chairman invited all to join us, and a couple new shooters did join us on the pistol range in the afternoon.
The Shooting Line was managed by Stan Gurski. Score keeper was Tom Plante, and our club president, Chuck Collins did kitchen duty.
lunch consisted of Hotdogs, Beans, Kraut, Chilli, Rolls, Desserts, and HAGGIS - a Scottish Treat favored by Brits. Newt M. supplied it, Chuck cooked it and most shooters at least tried it.
The new club standard targets are available commercially and are scored 6-10, with an X ring. All the outdoor events were shot with this target, except for the "Commando" Match which was shot at silhouette targets at 25 yards.
Of the 15 Events scheduled, two were not entered-Waterloo - requiring a "Brown Bess" Smoothbore Flintlock, and the Crimea War - requiring a Percussion Rifle or Carbine (.577 Enfield)
The day belonged to Dr. Glenn K. who won six matches, (3) Zulu Wars, (3A) 100 Heads, (10) Trainer,
(12) United Kingdom Revolver, (13)Empire Revolver, and (14) Commonwealth Auto. All his scores were impressive.
Glenn won the Empire revolver with his Colt Official Police .38. Because we did not have that gun for his
trophy, we created a placque for his trophy
Perennial Winner and Sniper, Andy G. won (9) End of Empire & (11) Empire Sniper Matches. Andy shot a perfect "Dead X" in the sniper match with his Jersey Legal FN-FAL.
This year, we did have a winner of the "Young Winston" Trophy. Joe A's son, Matt A. particpated in the
"Commando" and the Empire Revolver matches. Matt missed winning the "Commando" Match by just 3 points.

We had no women shooters compete this year, so the Queen Victoria Trophy was not issued.
